Michael Jacklin

The sculptor Michael Jacklin was born in 1956 in the Netherlands. Raised in Heemstede, he developed a fascination for birds, plants, landscapes, and nature. In 1976, he enrolled in the Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, where his art evolved from semi-abstract to abstract.

After completing his studies at Ateliers’63 from 1982 to 1984, Jacklin began working predominantly with industrial iron lengths, manipulating them through cutting, bending, and welding. While the material imposes limitations, his style remains diverse. He utilizes lines, grids, squares, circles, cubes, and spheres in his works, a selection of which is on display.

Between 1985 and 1993, he showcased his art at Fons Welters Gallery. Since 1994, he has regularly exhibited at Slewe Gallery in Amsterdam. His works have been collected by prominent private and public art collections, including the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, the ABN AMRO Art Collection, and the AKZO Nobel Art Foundation.

In 2019, Michael Jacklin was awarded the Stipendium for Established Artists by the Mondriaan Fund. He currently resides and creates in Amsterdam.
